I drove into the Milford Sound parking lot about 15 minutes before sunrise. I got my gear out and walked towards the shore. It was cloudy! I almost went back and called it a day as I saw the clouds covered the mountains. I could use some sleep. Another photographer set his camera up nearby. He yelled, “I have been here for two hours! It doesn’t look good!” I yelled back, “At least it stopped raining!” I went ahead and set up, and we chatted a bit. Just when we were about to give up, the clouds opened up, and the rising sun gave Mitre Peak its alpenglow. It was a good morning!
